The University of Glasgow is a globally recognised institution, known for our pioneering research and cutting-edge projects. By partnering with us, you can tap into a rich pool of expertise, innovative technology, skilled researchers and world-class facilities ready to tackle real-world and industrial challenges.
Our Research and Innovation
We are at the forefront of biotechnology research, with our Schools and Colleges dedicated to groundbreaking work across a variety of sectors.
We are delighted to showcase exciting University of Glasgow research projects in biotechnology from our College of Medical, Veterinary and Life Sciences alongside those from our College of Science and Engineering.
SalmoSim, a start-up from the University of Glasgow, has developed a low-cost simulator of a salmon gut. It enables the development and testing of veterinary medicines and bringing new, innovative feed ingredients to market.
Our research in sustainability addresses varied research areas such as the sustainable chemicals challenge through using lignin for packaging and composites and maximising the impact of vertical farming for a cleaner, greener future with greater food security. Natural products from the oceans, such as seaweed polymers, are also being researched to explore how they can enhance lithium-ion batteries to create economic impact for Scotland, whilst supporting the transition to a Net Zero future.
We’re proud of the innovative biotech research we have in the field of medicine with incredible work being undertaken with a novel peptide, Mitotargin, which has far-reaching applications for multiple disease areas.
Through the Centre for the Cellular Microenvironment (CeMi), we are advancing novel therapeutic bone technologies to help with non-healing fractures through the HEALIKICK project. Furthermore, CeMi is also home to MAINSTREAM, an exciting project in the manufacturing of stem cells for regenerative medicine, immunotherapy and cancer.
Our Talent Pipeline and Recruitment
Through partnering with the University of Glasgow on skills and employability, you can gain access to a pipeline of highly skilled graduates ready to join your workforce. We can also collaborate with you to design CPD training courses to upskill your employees.
