Alex Blackshaw has over 12 years’ experience in economic development, working to support Scotland’s most ambitious, innovation‑driven companies. In her role within the Innovate UK Business Growth team at Scottish Enterprise, she helps companies from start-up to scale-up accelerate their commercialisation journey through tailored strategic support, including innovation planning, access to funding and finance and support with internationalisation.

Alex works across a wide range of sectors—from industrial biotechnology and sustainable chemicals to advanced manufacturing and clean technologies—helping businesses unlock partnerships, secure finance, and grow competitively on a global stage. She is particularly passionate about supporting companies developing solutions with tangible environmental and societal impact.
