Extraction and purification of functional molecules from natural products using supercritical CO2
If you need to isolate and purify functional molecules from marine, terrestrial and Agri waste products using clean technologies, then this is the workshop for you. The workshop will introduce the practical application of supercritical CO2 as a process solvent focussing on materials from Scotland for cosmetics, personal care, food, pharmaceutical and construction applications.
Why Attend?
The workshop will be delivered by Prof. Ray Marriott, the CSO at Bridge Farm Bioscience who has over 30 years’ experience in developing supercritical CO2 applications from lab scale to commercial production. Delegates will be given practical examples of supercritical CO2 technologies in industry and how this can provide high quality products that meet the most stringent regulatory frameworks.
Workshop Highlights
Understanding the technology: its applications and limitations and how a development project can be structured to identify high value opportunities with minimum cost and ultimately translate this to commercial volume.
Practical Application tips: there will be a focus on the steps needed in terms of biomass selection and processing and this will include other opportunities such as impregnation of timber using supercritical CO2 for the construction industry.
Open Discussion: There will be an open discussion during the second half of the workshop and delegates are encouraged to bring potential applications and projects.
