Omar Aboelazayem

Omar Aboelazayem is a Senior Lecturer in Chemical Engineering at Teesside University, specialising in sustainable processing, waste valorisation and circular biomanufacturing.

His recent work supports biomanufacturing industries in reducing carbon and water footprints while generating new materials from their process wastes. He will unveil "FermoLoop" for the first time at this conference, a process designed to “close the loop” in fermentation industries. The process has been validated to TRL 5 with industrial partners as part of the Innovate UK-funded project "FermoChar" and is now advancing towards commercialisation.

Beyond research, Omar is recognised for strong industry engagement and knowledge exchange leadership, bridging academia and industry through liaison roles and serving on the IChemE Teesside Group Committee.

He holds a PhD in Chemical Engineering from London South Bank University and has previously held technical and research roles at the University of Nottingham and the University of Leeds.
