Sofia Alexiou

Sofia Alexiou joined Grampian Growers in August 2025, where she leads AgriTech programmes and supports crop field trials as part of the organisation’s ambition to accelerate innovation across the sector. She brings over 18 years of experience delivering high-impact R&D and scientific programmes, working closely with senior scientists, engineers and executive leaders across the UK, Europe and internationally. 

Sofia has a strong track record in managing complex, multi-million-pound, grant-funded portfolios and in establishing fit-for-purpose Project Management Offices to ensure strategic alignment, robust governance and successful outcomes. A PMI-certified Project Management Professional (PMP®), she combines modern, hybrid project delivery approaches with deep scientific fieldwork experience. 

With a background in Marine Science and Oceanography, and extensive experience spanning research, innovation and programme delivery, Sofia brings a unique perspective to scaling applied science and translating research into real-world impact—expertise that is proving invaluable as Grampian Growers continues to grow its AgriTech and innovation activities.
